Monster Island, the Asylum’s 2019 mockbuster, came out around the same date as Godzilla King of the Monsters. The film is about an island with a mysterious creature that lives on it.


To keep costs down, the film only follows a handful of human characters and keeps its A-listers on one set so they can shoot all their sequences over lunch. We must not forget that this film is a kaiju film and it is basically about how those things work. So maybe The (blog) Asylum won’t be too disappointed with it.
